I went out alone this morning at low tide to hang with the cranes and try my luck at some sand dollar hunting. I hit the jackpot, 16 sand dollars! I first found about 5-6 walking down from 18th St North to Dog Beach which was a good haul for me as I had previously been sand dollar challenged compared to Paula.
On my way back South from Dog Beach. I found the motherload in the deep tide pools Paula was stuck crossing the day before. Initially, it was three in knee-high water close to the shore, then more and more kept luring me into deeper water until I was in over waist-deep. With over ten additional sand dollars added to my collection, I headed home with my bounty happy as a clam at high tide.
Welcome crane watchers, sand dollar enthusiasts and anyone else just stopping by to check in! I put this site together to capture some of the wonderful images and fun we have on the beach collecting sand dollars and watching cranes.
